Hello!  I am a North Somerset-based coach, counsellor and fully-qualified, UKCP-registered psychotherapist, having completed four years of advanced training as a Transactional Analyst (TA Psychotherapist) at the Berne Institute, near Nottingham, with a Diploma in Counselling Skills from the Berne Institute.

Practising in psychotherapy since 2016, I have developed a profound trust in its power to heal wounds and to stimulate growth and change. Listening; reflecting back; seeing confidence grow; forming a close alliance at a high level of awareness; sharing someone’s personal journey, step by step, towards clarity, hope and fulfilment: it is a process that transforms lives and gives me joy.

Professionally, I think of myself originally as an educator who always believed passionately in lifelong learning.  I continue to learn and grow, myself, through my training and from my clients. Many of my coaching clients are experiencing the psychological and emotional pressures of school leadership.  I believe it is vitally important for leaders to attend to their own growth and wellbeing in order to give so much, sustainably, to their work.  I try to help them with that, working through Integrity Coaching.

My professional background is as an Education Consultant with fifteen years' experience supporting leadership and learning in UK, Europe, Australia, Malaysia and the Middle East, being a former teacher and headteacher with twenty-nine years’ experience in comprehensive schools, after graduating in English Literature at Cambridge.

I'm a member of the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP), the UK Association for Transactional Analysis (UKATA) and the European Association for Transactional Analysis (EATA) and registered with the Information Commissioner as a Data Controller (Reg. ZA182812).

More importantly, I am a father of three wonderful grown-up children with two lovely grand-daughters and a happily re-married husband with three step-children and seven step-grandchildren and I am deeply proud of them all.

I have also been a governor of the primary school in my village and the author of articles, chapters and reports, in peer-reviewed publications about learning, leadership, creativity and values in education.
